Description: Description Duties: Serve a lead role in conducting quantitative and risk analysis of distribution pipeline network of National Grid in the U.S. Make informed, authoritative technical asset plans for maintenance and capital investment for distribution asset to reduce risk and improve business performance. Translate the program requirements into clearly defined business cases, budgets and an assessment of the impact on rate case development and risks to facilitate the planning process and develop strategies to minimize risk. Lead, motivate and develop a professional team including two (2) engineers, two (2) associate engineers, one (1) associate engineer – entry level, and two (2) contract engineers; prioritize work and allocate resources in order to ensure results are delivered in line with expectations and business objectives. Create system replacement strategy proposals. Develop and implement strategies to maintain, repair and replace assets to maximize safety, reliability and performance of gas distribution assets. Establish CapEx Efficiency Metrics / Scoreboard with reference to leaks per mile, O&M spend per LDC, customer interruptions, etc. Provide timely and accurate variance projections to manage O&M and CapEx budget to meet established targets. Perform incident analysis review and develop systematic solutions. Assist in the preparation of Distribution Integity Management Plan (DIMP) in accordance with federal / state schedule requirements. Design, conduct, and evaluate experimental operational models in cases where models cannot be developed from existing data. Study and analyze information about alternative courses of action to determine which plan will offer the best outcomes. Perform validation and testing of models to ensure adequacy and reformulate models as necessary. Develop and apply time and cost networks to plan, control, and review projects. Conduct studies and prepare recommendations and solutions for implementation of new systems, procedures, or technical changes. Keep up to date with regulatory developments within Gas Distribution Engineering Department in order to ensure the optimization of best practices for National Grid. Qualifications Knowledge & Experience Required : Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Mechanical Engineering (or foreign equivalent) plus five (5) years of relevant experience in gas systems/assets engineering at a multinational utility company including experience in conducting quantitative and risk analysis of distribution pipeline network; establishing CapEx Efficiency Metrics / Scoreboard with reference to leaks per mile, O&M spend per LDC, customer interruptions; creating gas temperature and pressure variation models for downstream regulator stations; and establish frost impact for cast iron main using robust temperature-break analysis.
