Essential Functions

Summary This position contributes to the design of next generation power conversion and control products for the Energy Grid Tie division of Parker Hannifin. As a key member of a cross functional product development team, the Compliance Engineer ensures that new designs meet applicable standards and regulations. Essential Functions Coordinate and support division compliance activities, including agency approvals for new products and certification of updates to existing products. As the subject matter expert, provide consulting on compliance topics to New Product Development Engineering, Sustaining Engineering, and Sales/Marketing/Business Development. Maintain knowledge of relevant standards, including those from UL, CSA, EU (CE), and other international agencies and governments, as they apply to our products and services. Provide training as appropriate on compliance standards topics to stakeholders in the business. Plan and organize compliance activities in the division to meet the strategic business goals. Coordinate and conduct on site testing as required for larger products (with support from NPD engineering). Support internal and external audit requirements relevant to Compliance topics. Participate in regulatory meetings and conferences to remain current in compliance topics and trends. Support the reliability prediction and analysis activities in the new product development team.

Qualifications

Education and Experience Bachelor degree (BS) (or Professional Engineer (PE) certificate) in an engineering or science technical discipline. Ability to perform the essential functions of the job typically acquired through 4-6 years of related experience. Experience and knowledge in Compliance standards and processes for Industrial Control Equipment,specifically variable speed drives and/or grid tie inverters. Skills and Competencies Ability to effectively communicate compliance requirements and the impacts of regulatory and agency requirements on the division products and business efforts. Demonstrated ability to conduct a complete compliance program for new product introduction, e.g., UL listing or CSA certification. Strong technical acumen; experience working with industrial electronics. Good analysis and problem solving skills. Quality orientation and attention to detail. Ability to plan, organize and execute the job functions in a timely manner to maintain project schedules. Ability to effectively communicate and present status, actions, recommendations, and other technical information with clarity and precision; responsive to inquiries from other engineering and business teams.
