Electronics Technologist-Radar Operations (Experienced)

We are seeking an experienced technologist for the Copperhead Radar Conus/Oconus Operations \(COO\) team to support local manned flight tests as a SAR Radar Operator \(RO\), Image Analyst \(IA\), perform radar set\-up and support remote UAV testing\. Testing is conducted for radar validation and verification, training and engineering development purposes\.

Job duties include operating the complex Copperhead SAR radar as an RO from the local Ground Control Station \(GCS\), interpreting high\-definition imagery real time as an IA, teaming with engineers to understand and implement test requirements, troubleshooting technical issues, creating flight plans for local and remote sites, supporting system\-level field testing, assisting with demonstrations for internal and external customers, performing data transfers, testing new radar software, radar pre\-flight and pre\-deployment checkouts in the Radar Systems Integration Lab, and be a member of the Copperhead Oconus on\-call support team\. The selected candidate must have the ability to be available for domestic travel\.


99. High School Diploma plus two years of relevant experience\.

99. Ability to obtain and maintain an FAA Class 3 Medical Certificate\.

99. Experience in data analysis from airborne or space\-based imaging systems \(EO, IR, or SAR\)\.

99. Ability to travel \(domestic\)\.

99. Ability to obtain and maintain a required US DOE security clearance\.


99. Familiarity with ground control shelter operations\.

99. Knowledge of radar systems and phenomenology\.

99. Demonstrated ability to excel on a highly functioning, multidisciplinary technical team\.

99. Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with a diverse team that includes personnel that are both external to the department and external to Sandia\.

99. Ability to establish excellent customer relations\.

99. Current and active DOE Q\-level security clearance\.

Department Description:

The Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance Mission Engineering Department \(5349\) provides multidisciplinary system and mission engineering in support of ongoing and future airborne ISR missions\. Missions can include multiple sensor technologies such as single and dual\-resolution synthetic aperture radar \(SAR\), coherent change detection \(CCD\), multi\-color imaging and ground moving target indication \(GMTI\)\. The department is responsible for the design, oversight, testing, delivery, and assessment of full\-up systems for a wide variety of applications, operating environments and customers\.

Security Clearance:

Position requires a Department of Energy \(DOE\) granted Q\-level security clearance\.

Sandia is required by DOE directive to conduct a pre\-employment drug testing, and a pre\-employment background review that includes personal reference checks, law enforcement record and credit checks, and employment and education verifications\.
