We are seeking an R&D Electrical Engineering to join the Space and Flight Systems department and work on a team of Electrical Engineers and Computer Science professionals to perform electronics design for embedded hardware systems on satellites. These systems primarily use Field Programmable Gate Arrays (FPGAs) and other embedded electronics.

On any given day, you may be called on to:

+ Design electrical circuits for embedded systems.
+ Develop test circuitry and test plans for electronics.
+ Work in LabVIEW, MATLAB, and other test programming languages.
+ Designing test fixtures to test satellite and other embedded systems.
+ Document, design, and write test plans for electronic systems.


+ BS and MS Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or relevant field.
+ Experience in hardware development and modern hardware design practices and tools.
+ Knowledge of embedded systems design and FPGAs by way of education or experience.
+ LABVIEW or Teststand experience.


+ PCB design experience.
+ Xilinix FGPA design experience.
+ Familiar with LabVIEW, MATLAB, or other analytical languages.
+ Familiar with C, C++, or JAVA a plus.
+ Excellent teaming and communication skills.
+ Knowledge with MATLAB and PCB board layout design.

Organization 5321, The Space and Flight Systems department provides hardware and software development for embedded satellite systems, embedded flight systems, and embedded ground systems. These systems range from localized controller applications to high-end node based computers serving as the heart of a satellite payload. Because of the high cost of payload launch, the design focus is on ultra-reliability, small size, and real time response. We also support the development of satellite ground equipment displays and analysis tools, and satellite simulators. Department 5321 consists of staff from the disciplines of electrical engineering, computer engineering, computer science, and electronics technology. These highly skilled staff members bring a quality emphasis to the creation of robust reliable embedded system designs.

Security Clearance:

Position requires a Department of Energy (DOE) granted Q-level security clearance.
