Electromechanical Technologist (Experienced)

We are seeking an Electromechanical Technologist to develop and mature modular pulsed power components, systems and characterizing materials relevant to pulsed power\. The initial focus will be on laser triggered gas switching technologies, characterization of materials under vacuum, development of high temperature systems, along with opportunities to support additional efforts in the future\.

Key functions of this role include, but are not limited to:

+ Developing, building, modifying and testing small, modular pulsed power components

+ Assembling, testing and troubleshooting modular pulsed power systems with hundreds of components, such as cables, spark\-gap and laser triggered gas switches

+ Configure diagnostics and data acquisition systems for use with pulsed power component and system tests

+ Development, installation, and operation of high\-powered laser system for both free\-space and optical fibers

+ Development of prototypical high\-temperature vacuum based systems and operations of related vacuum hardware\.

+ Completing and maintaining a rigorous set of safety training that addresses hazards such as high pressure gas systems, high voltage, stored electrical energy and lifting/hoisting


+ High school diploma or equivalent

+ Three years of experience, to include one or more of the following:

- Assembling, testing and troubleshooting of pulsed power systems

- Developing, building, modifying and testing pulsed power components

- Preparation and use of optical fibers and related hardware

- Assembling, testing, and troubleshooting of vacuum systems

- Experience configuring diagnostics and data acquisition systems for use with pulsed power component and system tests

- Experience in storing, managing, and analyzing acquired data

+ Ability to obtain and maintain a DoE Q clearance


+ Experience maintaining and operating data acquisition systems

+ Knowledge of vacuum systems

+ Experience placing machining orders for custom parts in small lots

+ Experience maintaining and operating interlock systems

+ Experience machining and fabricating small, simple parts

The Advanced Pulsed Power Technologies develops and deploys pulsed power components for particle beam and z\-pinch accelerators and intense pulsed electron beams for a variety of purposes\. Security Clearance:

Position requires a Department of Energy \(DOE\) granted Q\-level security clearance\.
