We are seeking a Electromechanical Technologist



On any given day, you may be called on to:



Develop, build, modify, repair, and maintain a wide variety of electronic, electromechanical, mechanical, and optical devices, instruments, systems, or processes;



Serve as a generalist technician and have responsibilities in more than one functional area, including electronics, instrumentation, and laser optics;



Work in a laboratory setting monitoring experiments and making and recording observations in support of the development and testing of scientific theories;



Support documentation efforts, including preparing information for scientific and engineering reports and publications;



Support the development of novel diagnostics and their implementation\.



Required:



1\. Associates degree or higher in Electronics or related technical discipline or experienced electrician\.



2\. Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q\-level security clearance\.



3\. Ability to travel 25%\-50% of the time\.



Desired:



1\. Bachelor's degree in relevant discipline plus five or more years of experience;



2\. Experience working with data collection equipment, demonstrating the ability to perform hardware systems analysis, monitoring, troubleshooting, repair and recovery, disaster recovery, software installations, systems OS and software applications upgrades and security patches, performance tuning, hardware upgrades and resource optimization, maintenance of user accounts, and training users;



3\. Ability to program in a scripting language such as VBS, Perl or shell scripting or programming languages such as C or C\+\+;



4\. Experience with networking protocols and configuration;



5\. Working knowledge of cyber\-security technologies and best\-practices\.



Department Description:



The Security System Analysis & Engineering Department, \(6513\) is a component of Sandia's Weapons & Force Protection Center\. Department 6513 is responsible for the analysis, design, and implementation of complex physical security systems to protect critical DoD and DOE assets and defense capabilities\. The department provides project management and subject matter experts in the area of risk analysis, intrusion detection, video assessment, communications, entry control and Alarm Communication and Display, and response force planning\. These subject matter experts are developed internally with extensive hands on training and external educational opportunities\. Department employees have the ability to lead and/or participate as a subject matter expert in vulnerability/risk analysis studies, engineering studies, system design, Sensor and access control component testing, development, and integration of complex physical security systems \(PSS\) for DoD, DOE and other government agencies\. Electrical, Mechanical, Systems, and Civil Engineers primarily fill these roles\. This department is currently working with the DOE, US Navy, US Air Force, and US Army to enhance the effectiveness of critical asset protection at CONUS/OCONUS installations through several multi\-million dollar initiatives\.

Security Clearance:



Position requires a Department of Energy \(DOE\) granted Q\-level security clearance\.



Sandia is required by DOE directive to conduct a pre\-employment drug testing, and a pre\-employment background review that includes personal reference checks, law enforcement record and credit checks, and employment and education verifications\.
