Develops specifications, characterizes equipment, builds, modifies, repairs, and maintains a wide variety of electronic, electromechanical, mechanical, and optical devices, instruments, systems, or processes\. Serves as a generalist technician and has responsibilities in more than one functional area, including electronics, instrumentation, and laser optics\. Works in a laboratory setting monitoring experiments and making and recording observations in support of characterization\. Supports documentation efforts, including preparing information for scientific and engineering reports and publications\. Supports the development of novel diagnostics and their implementation\. Investigates alternative solutions, and recommends solutions on problems affecting a variety of circumstances including electronic systems or equipment\. Serves as the Equipment Lifecycle Management \(ELM\) point\-of contact and expert on PCs, PLCs, operational technology, and cyber security\. Serves as the ELM Equiment System Administrator for the Neutron Generator Operational Technology Network \(NGOTN\), as needed\. Validates and applies system patches and updates as required for NGOTN\. Implements and maintains user authentication solutions for all equipment on the NGOTN\. Configures logging and verifies that logging is enabled where possible\. Works with NGE Cybersecurity to apply cybersecurity controls to equipment in closed areas\. Works independently as well as part of a team\. The split between desk work and lab work varies, but is generally 50/50\.



Required:



+ Associates or higher degree in science, technology, engineering, or mathematics \(STEM\) discipline

+ 5 or more years' relevant experience and technical competencies appropriate to the position

+ Able to obtain and maintain a DOE security clearance



Desired:



+ A bachelor's degree in STEM

+ Experience in a manufacturing environment

+ Experience working in an R&D environment

+ Knowledge or project management terminology

+ Prior project management and Lean Six Sigma experience \(or coursework\)

+ Well\-developed interpersonal skills

+ Ability to successfully team with others to achieve common objectives

+ Self\-driven and works well independently with minimal direction

NG Operations Management is a department within Center 2500: Component Science, Engineering, and Production\. The group is responsible for the identification of needs, procurement, characterization, and retirement of equipment used in the center\.

Security Clearance:



Position requires a Department of Energy \(DOE\) granted Q\-level security clearance\.



Sandia is required by DOE directive to conduct a pre\-employment drug testing, and a pre\-employment background review that includes personal reference checks, law enforcement record and credit checks, and employment and education verifications\.
