We are seeking a Electromechanical Technologist



The Nuclear Weapon Security Advanced Concepts Department needs your help in exploring and developing innovative concepts and new technologies to meet challenging and diverse weapon surety needs\! Our department has an opening for an electromechanical technologist with primary responsibility as the owner of the newly created Advanced Surety Lab \(ASL\)\.



On any given day, you may be called upon to:



To coordinate, plan, manage, oversee/review ES&H/security, and approve activities and experiments being conducted within the ASL\.



To oversee/perform operations, maintenance, alterations, and maintain configuration management of large specialized equipment within the ASL\.



To manage access to the lab and instruct personnel on ASL security and ES&H requirements\.



Specify, procure, assemble, troubleshoot, and maintain commercial electro\-mechanical equipment;



Fabricate, assemble, and test electronic, electrical, and electromechanical equipment/designs/prototypes\.



Support field test activities that including sensor installation and instrumentation\.



Required:



Minimum of a two\-year degree in engineering technology, physics, or a related field, or a minimum of five years of work experience in a related environment and/or specialized training related to the job description above;



Demonstrated ability to work safely and independently with minimum direct supervision;



Demonstrated ability to work as a member of a team;



Demonstrated experience developing ES&H requirements and documentation for projects including Engineered Safety;



Working knowledge of electrical and electronic circuits;



Ability to read, comprehend and interpret mechanical drawings\.



Experience with instrument systems and automated data collection systems;



Ability to configure and assemble electrical and mechanical equipment in accordance with specifications\.



Ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy \(DOE\) Q\-level security clearance and Sigma 15 caveat\.



Desired:



Military training and operational experience related to equipment within the ASL\.



Active DOE Q clearance



Proficient with the use of hand and power tools;



Ability to develop drawings with standard computer\-aided design tools; and the ability to assemble custom electronic control devices and cabling, troubleshoot existing equipment, and maintain simple LANs\.



Experience with test instruments including oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, multi\-meters, and power supplies\.



Experience using National Instruments equipment and software\.



Familiarity with Nuclear Weapon Use Control and Security Concepts\.



Experience with PCB design, test, and evaluation\.



Experience that spans from low\-rigor R&D demonstrators to operational systems\.



Ability to specify and design R&D laboratory electromechanical equipment;



Experience in Lean Six Sigma methodology\.

Security Clearance:



Position requires a Department of Energy \(DOE\) granted Q\-level security clearance\.
