The Dental/Medical Flow and Pressure Business Unit of the Precision Fluidics Division, based in Hatfield, PA, focuses on development and production of mass flow meters and controllers, rotameters, and precision regulators which are designed to support analytical instrumentation equipment manufacturers in achieving precision fluidic control in their applications. We also provide Nitrous Oxide Sedation systems used for pain management in both dental and medical applications.

Major Duties

As part of our Precision Fluidics Engineering team, the Electrical-Systems Engineer designs component products or systems using engineering principles in control systems, electronics, fluidics and mechatronics. You will analyze and research customer needs and relevant technologies, and develop concepts to satisfy complex fluidic measurement and control applications. You will translate those concepts into viable designs that can be profitably manufactured and taken to commercial release providing compelling products that enable our customers to provide cutting edge solutions in the life science research, clinical diagnostic and medical device markets.


• Develops microcontroller and analog circuit based flow measurement and control products. • Develops conceptual and detailed design specifications by analyzing product performance and customer requirements. • Applies scientific analysis and mathematical models to predict and measure the performance of design alternatives. Interprets and validates test results. Utilizes DFMEA and PFMEA to ensure design integrity and quality. • Creates and reviews product specifications and/or modifications to ensure clarity, completeness, form, fit, function and conformity to standards and procedures. Troubleshoots design errors, omissions and other deficiencies, and recommends revisions, engineering change orders and improvements to engineering management or the project team. • Provides technical information for review with product engineering teams applying consistent engineering practices, standards, and documentation methods. Writes supporting documentation for procedures and technical reports. • Communicates with customers to identify new business opportunities, present Parker product capabilities and clarify customers’ technical requirements. May write technical proposals for customers by reviewing and interpreting specifications and requirements. • Mentors or serves as a resource to share specialized knowledge with others. Establishes goals and objectives and tracks performance required to complete projects. • Updates professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing technical publications, and/or participating in professional associations.


• Bachelor's degree (BS) in electrical engineering; Master's degree (MS) and/or Professional Engineer certificate preferred, with a minimum of 7-9 years of related experience including Life Science instrumentation, electromechanical and fluidic systems. • Thorough in-depth knowledge of engineering domain principles, concepts, product standards, and techniques, industry practices, regulations and policies including PID control, analog and digital circuit design, and embedded system design and programming. Able to apply broad knowledge of other related engineering areas to area of expertise. • Demonstrated ability to investigate and implement new technologies. • Proficient with engineering design and analysis tools (e.g. computer-aided design or modeling systems); ability to use standard software packages such as LabVIEW, MatLAB, C#, and Python, and Spice. • ISO 9001 / ISO 13485 Design & Manufacturing environment and FDA regulated Medical Device design experience a plus. • Able to establish individual objectives to complete projects and provide status to the team at project milestones, effectively influence the overall team and functional objectives. • Strong communication skills to deal with customers and project teams with clarity and precision. • Proficient with standard project management tools and practices.
