Description: Description About the Position:
The Senior Supervisor’s role is to provide front line leadership for field operations. Working as one team, one National Grid, the role has an array of responsibilities that include assuring a safe work culture, driving performance, coaching, mentoring, and overall development of the field workforce. This leadership role understands the work execution process including synchronized scheduling, and work coordination for a multi skilled workforce for construction, operation, maintenance, and restoration of the National Grid electrical system.
Position Responsibilities (including but not limited to): Ensures the safety of personnel by Promoting National Grid’s Safety vision, leading a safe work culture, and ensuring compliance with OSHA Standards and National Grid Safety Rules. Ensures work is completed in accordance with appropriate company policies, and standards are met through monitoring of work. Provides employee feedback, and seeks to understand and resolve quality issues. Encourages an environment of teamwork, resourcefulness, and problem solving to get the job done. Shares information and encourages participation in the decision making process. Removes obstacles through communication and collaboration with others. Collaborates with the Work Coordinator in developing a (0) week schedule and assigning crews in order to ensure efficient productivity. Understands and enforces the collective bargaining agreement. Demonstrates National Grid’s Core Values while performing day to day activities by: Respecting others and valuing their diversity Taking ownership for driving performance Demonstrating integrity and openness in all relationships Working as one team, one National Grid Ensures employees attend required scheduled training. Responds to regular and off-hour emergency outages, taking necessary steps to safe guard customers and employees during restoration of our electrical system in a timely manner. Manages performance through observation and evaluation of employee work practices. Identifies, builds and communicates performance metrics and meets set performance levels. Fosters continuous improvement in the workplace.
Qualifications Knowledge & Experience Required:
Knowledge of: collective bargaining agreements, construction standards, work methods, safety regulations, and environmental procedures.

Ability to read and interpret schematics, one-line diagrams and circuit maps.

Possesses working knowledge of OH/UG/Substation maintenance and construction practices, OSHA standards, National Grid safety rules, EOPs, and best practice work methods.

Qualify for Authorized Persons List to coordinate and initiate switching applications.

Exhibit knowledge of OH/UG /Substation vehicles, tools, and equipment.

Demonstrate proficient computer skills involving utility applications, Microsoft office, and field use of laptop computers.

Display well-developed verbal and written communication skills and the ability to effectively interface and communicate with people at all levels across organizational boundaries.

Portray an understanding of corporate finance and budgeting practices.

Apply creative problem-solving skills in a team environment.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree with three years of experience in Transmission, Distribution and/or Construction, servicing customers and supervising employees.

or

Associate’s Degree with five years of experience in Transmission, Distribution and/or Construction, servicing customers, and supervising employees.

or

Minimum of seven years Electrical Transmission or Distribution construction.

Possess a valid driver’s license with a safe driving record. Ability to obtain appropriate level CDL.

Ability to work off-hours and on call rotations sometimes requiring travel outside the Division for emergency assignments. These assignments and situations can require working off shifts as necessary to meet business needs.

Qualify for Authorized Persons List to coordinate and initiate switching.

Must successfully complete job specific National Grid Performance Supervisor training courses within allotted timeframe.
