Position Summary:

Pentair is currently seeking an EHS Specialist to lead the integration of safety/environmental/security programs into overall operating procedures; provide EHS service, advice, direction and leadership to achieve Pentair’s Zero Harm vision. They will also be responsible for the implementation of Pentair’s EHS management system and requirements at a plant level with all department leaders. Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assists management in establishing, developing, implementing and administering high quality, effective safety, security, environmental and loss prevention programs. Develop, review, and revise the EHS management system, including guidelines and procedures to ensure that they are established, current, accurate, compliant, and effectively communicated

  • Performs program assessments to measure and evaluate compliance with program standards and communicate results to all levels of management and track effective closure of action items

  • Collect and analyze statistical data and compliance audit results to identify improvement opportunities and initiate action

  • Provide technical expertise and support in the area of occupational safety to promote individual behavior based safety programs and ensure workers maintain vigilance regarding all safety concerns

  • Support investigations for all incidents and accidents on site and ensure timely completion of corrective actions. Oversee and update incident reporting and investigation system based on effective cause/effect analysis with involvement and empowerment of front line employees to change culture from reactive to preventive and ultimately predictive

  • Manage and conduct, when required, EHS training including new hire orientation, on-going EHS training, specialized EHS training (i.e. forklift) and supervisor leadership expectations

  • Prepare documentation for Air Quality Permit, Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plan, Spill Prevention Control and Countermeasures Plan, Sewer Discharge Permit, Large Quantity Generator Permit, etc and ensure compliance to permit requirements

  • Schedule and perform inspections of fire protection equipment, storm water outfalls, hazardous waste stream compliance, etc.

  • Maintain required OSHA, DHS, EPA, WDNR, NFPA, DOT documentation and records.


Skills and Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelors degree in safety, training, or related field

  • 2 years experience in safety / environmental preferred

  • Working knowledge of PCs and software applications

  • Capable of multi-tasking and working to demanding deadlines

  • Able to make decisions and be a self-starter

  • Able to work in a team environment

  • Working knowledge of EHS protocols and processes

  • Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety legislation and regulations

  • Knowledge of corporate, federal and state EHS policies, rules and standards

  • Working knowledge of EHS management systems
