Description: Description About the Position: Through collaboration across functions, exceed customer and community expectations by driving process excellence and efficiency, within all functions that contribute to the end to end process. Accountable for the design and timely delivery of process improvement initiatives through the use of proven methodologies and tools, focused on improving the performance of the entire end to end process in order to meet performance objectives and targets. Enable projects and initiatives to be delivered safely, efficiently and within regulatory standards and compliance.
Position can be in any National Grid location.
Position Responsibilities (including but not limited to): Developing and analyzing a comprehensive set of end to end (E2E) process improvement opportunities in support of strategic / operational E2E process performance. Working with Process Performance Lead to align process improvement opportunities with associated key performance indicators (KPI) cascade model. Directing, prioritizing, and implementing E2E process improvement initiatives on time and on budget. Aligning E2E process improvement portfolio with functional leader business plans and negotiating resource support requirements. Working with Process Performance Lead to align process improvement efforts and / or initiatives with other programs (ex: Shaping Our Future, Critical Project Portfolio, Customer Experience Transformation, Gas Business Enablement, Supply Chain Transformation, etc.) and supporting the change impact analysis as a result of process changes. Directing and escalating support to Process Improvement Practitioners Driving the consistent utilization of the PEX tools and methodologies with the Process Improvement Practitioners. Inflencing and collaborating with the Process Performance Leads and functional leads to develop KPIs and key milestones for process improvement initiatives, monitoring and analyzing performance data to ensure change projects are delivering against expectations. Collaborating with the other E2E process teams and the central capability team to implement and embed the National Grid Process Framework into the business, support the development of National Grid process methodology and tools, and best practices.
Qualifications Knowledge & Experience Required: A Bachelor’s degree preferably in an engineering/analytical discipline Significant experience with Lean, Six Sigma or similar process improvement discipline desired 5+ year’s management experience including significant interactions at the director level or equivalent Influential, energetic and enthusiastic process improvement leader, with the drive, ambition and resilience to make things happen and deliver outstanding performance Significant experience managing resources and activities focused on delivering sustainable end to end process improvement Proven experience at influencing senior executives of the organization Ability to successfully bring together and drive cooperation across diverse teams with potentially conflicting goals and objectives Capability Requirements: Process and Performance Excellence Principles: Ability to advocate and actively contribute to a process driven culture by setting a clear vision, exhibiting example behaviors, identify improvement opportunities, enabling people, providing honest feedback, holding people accountable, challenge the status quo, and maintaining a non-functional biased end to end process focus. Process Improvement Methodology: Ability to execute methodical approach to Define the As Is process (steps, responsible parties, hand offs, outputs), Measure (waste identification, benchmarks, data availability), Analyze (trending, waste or defect root cause), Improve (identify improvement opportunities), and Control (implement and sustain improvements). Process Improvement Tools: Ability to utilize specific tools (VOC, process mapping, value stream mapping, regression analysis, SIPOC, Pareto charts, control charts, etc.) and translate outcomes to process improvements despite the existence of complexity and ambiguity. Project Management: Ability to prioritize and manage projects to ensure that quality work is completed on time and within budget. Involves scheduling and managing tasks and resources needed to accomplish a given project and identifying and resolving issues impacting progress. Business Case Development: Ability to facilitate and drive business case efforts to ensure all assumptions and data regarding cost, benefit, and timeline justifications are identified. Align Process Improvement to Process Performance: Ability to provide recommendations, implementation plans, and deliver improvement solutions based on accurate performance metrics and analytics. Facilitation: Ability to lead a discussion by asking questions, mediating between opposing viewpoints, encouraging participation, and ensuring that all participants' views are heard. Technical Aptitude for Data Analysis: Ability to collect, normalize, and analyze data in order to determine correlations, trends, and predictions, and then leverage within an improvement strategy. Analytical Thinking: Ability to leverage and analyze data to identify critical information, develop hypothesis and make actionable recommendations for improving the E2E process. Decision Making: Ability to apply sound analysis and logic to reach practical, data driven solutions and decisions in a timely manner. Negotiation: Ability to effectively communicate with others in order to arrive at a mutually agreeable settlement or compromise. Relationship Management: The ability to build and use robust internal and external relationships developed through trust and collaboration. Credibility and Communication: Sophisticated influencing skills and ability to interact effectively with people from different levels, perspectives and backgrounds. Managing Teams: Ability to effectively lead others, delegate responsibilities effectively, and motivate people to achieve goals to maximize performance.
