About the Position: Reporting to the Vice President, Business Services, the Director of Analytics, Products and Services will ensure effective engagement between Advanced Data and Analytics – US and the National Grid businesses that it serves. The Director of Analytics, Products and Services will d rive significant improvement in organizational performance, cost reduction, and quality improvement by supporting enterprise-wide deployment of advanced analytics and mathematical modelling. The Director will be responsible for leading the team that provides forecasting services to the entire U.S. business. As the Advanced Data and Analytics function develops additional data analytics product solutions, the Director will provide services associated with those products including execution within service level agreements; maintenance and delivery of upgrades; and automation of the products with self-service features.
Position Responsibilities (including but not limited to):
Participates in the cross-functional leadership of the Advanced Data and Analytics organization, including the promotion and growth of the organization. Manages a team of high-performing Engineers, and Regulatory Specialists in the execution of ADA forecasting and product solutions. Organizes teams and budget resources for client engagement projects Operationalizes and productizes business solutions and oversees the delivery of products Leads Advanced Analytics Forecasting Services (gas and electric; day ahead and long-term; system-wide and spatial). Provides these services including regulatory support and testimony across all US businesses and jurisdictions. Defines the future of forecasting services and works with regulators to define that future Defines strategy for acquiring and maintaining data necessary for current and anticipated business solutions. Maintains regular communication and relationships with Information Services for integrity and security of required data. Monitors results against department requirements. Influences the development and enhancement of services, products and systems. Monitors the level of business achieved and works to enhance through goal-setting and continuous process improvements. Measures the level of customer satisfaction, at regular intervals or after each significant delivery of product or service. Responds to business leaders’ (VP’s, SVP’s) queries in a timely manner. Ensures that, when necessary, corrective actions are taken by own organization and by the customer organization. Takes responsibility for the resolution of problems within an agreed organizational framework. Develops and manages defined communication channel(s) and/or stakeholder groups. Participates as an “Agile” team director for multiple simultaneous projects, ensuring that each project meets the agreed time and budget expectations. Responsible for the training and continuous upskilling of the ADA Product & Services team Job dimension:
4-10 direct reports Budget responsibility for Agile projects that will include 2-10 members of the Advanced Analytics team and the US business including the IS organization Accountable for the financial objectives of the Agile project teams including the delivery of in-year opex savings Maintains relationships with key stakeholders at the Band A and Band B levels (SVPs and VPs) Interfaces with public utility commissions in support of US Regulation and Pricing and the US Jurisdictions Member of the Advanced Data and Analytics leadership team which is responsible for the setting the 3 year vision and roadmap for advanced analytics at National Grid
Qualifications Knowledge & Experience Required: Bachelor’s degree required. Master’s degree in a relevant discipline or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience preferred Proven experience building and maintaining data flow systems in AWS 7-10+ years’ related work experience in big data computer programming, big data processing, emerging big data technology, etc. Experience managing a team is also required. Demonstrated ability to build and develop a cohesive team and individual skill sets Proficiency in MS Office Familiar with the application of automated systems to the support of specific business functions Maintains focus on agreed objectives and deliverables regardless of unforeseen obstacles. Demonstrates strong knowledge of the IT infrastructure (hardware, databases, operating systems, local area networks etc.) and the IT applications and service processes used within own organization. Strong relationship-building skills and ability to interact credibly and genuinely with senior stakeholders Advanced understanding of data strategy development, processes, and activities. Track record of building teams to work effectively using existing processes with minimum inefficiency Ability to understand and describe the capabilities and value of the ADA services as it relates to business unit problem-solving Proficient with the purpose and composition of a service level agreement (SLA); the relationship between an SLA and a contract for the supply of services. Familiar with specific standards associated with the IT practitioner and the business current roles. Examples: health and safety standards, corporate quality and change management processes, ITIL, etc. Able to clearly explain technical strategies and value proposition to stakeholders from the business entity/jurisdiction. Establishes relationships that persist after direct interaction concludes
