Description: Description About the Position: Working for the Global Head of Organization Development, develop an integrated global talent strategy which will enable the future success of the business by ensuring we have the right mix of people, with the right skills in place at the appropriate time, aligned to our strategic workforce planning requirements. Working closely with local Talent Managers, ensure appropriate guidance and advice is provided to enable them to operationalize the global talent strategy in a way that is relevant to local business challenges.
Position Responsibilities (including but not limited to): Work collaboratively with a wide range of stakeholders - the Global Strategic Workforce Planning Manager, the Global Leadership and Capability Development Manager, local Talent Managers and HRBP teams, develop and deploy an integrated talent strategy to enable business performance. As a thought leader in this area, own and ensure the consistent application of the end to end global Talent process, frameworks, tools and resources and constantly apply best practice continuous improvement approaches to ensure they remain fit for purpose. Work with the local Talent Managers to ensure these processes and tools are embedded and consistently applied across the organisation and that there is a sharing of best practice approaches across the global organization. Support the Group Head of OD in the Group Executive Committee Quarterly Global Talent Pool meetings. Specifically, creating the agendas, working with the Talent Managers to build the content, supporting prep sessions with each Group Exec Committee member and helping facilitate in the session itself. Review, enhance and define the process for the CEO led Annual Talent Reviews – ensure this remains fit for purpose and support and challenge the Talent managers to create impactful discussions with clearly defined actions. Work with the Talent Managers to ensure delivery against those agreed actions. Support the Organization Development Manager to present the global themes and organization wide priorities with the CEO and Global HRD. Build a strong network with peers from other large organizations and scan the external market for best practice against which we can benchmark our own frameworks and approaches in an effort to continuously improve the way we identify, develop and deploy talent across the organization. Work with local Talent Managers to encourage greater cross-business talent mobility and, with their input, design and develop approaches to manage the movement of resources across the organization. Challenge senior colleagues to consider talent as a corporate-wide resource rather than a local resource to ensure people get exposure to an appropriately diverse set of development challenges across the organization. Work with local Talent Managers to develop and establish an approach, tools and resources to enable the development of robust career paths across the organization for technical roles and not just general business leaders. Work with the Global HR Data and Analytics team to inform the global talent data requirements, specific metrics and benchmarks to enable the development of meaningful insights around the talent agenda and share these organizational wide insights with local Talent Managers who will leverage these to inform local priorities. Work closely with the Global HRIS team, acting as the Subject Matter Expert for the design, implementation and subsequent ongoing enhancements of any new Talent systems. Work with the Leadership Assessment specialist to provide input to talent assessment processes, ensuring alignment with the National Grid talent framework. Work closely with the Global Leadership and Capability Development Manager, to input the ongoing refinement of the leadership framework based on the talent requirements of the organization. Working closely with the Academy, initiate, review and input to the design of global specific talent programs to ensure we have a robust pipeline of critical resource aligned to our strategic workforce. planning requirements as well as providing subject matter expertise for capability build interventions across our leadership population. Work closely with regional Heads of Resourcing to ensure we have robust talent acquisition strategies globally, focusing on key talent segments at Band B and below, to strengthen talent pipelines. Lead all global talent management program work, ensuring talent management projects deliver on time, within budget and address the talent needs of the organization in the future.
Qualifications Knowledge & Experience Required: Experience in talent management frameworks, processes and approaches - ideally gained in other large organizations. Knowledge of, and experience in designing, implementing and maintaining talent processes and approaches. Strategic thought leadership with the ability to turn that thinking into a clear vision and executable plan. Comfortable operating at a strategic level but also able to execute effectively. Ability to influence others (up to and including Executive Committee members) - evidence of excellent relationship building ability across a wide variety of audiences and situations. Excellent networking and collaboration skills – able to use that network to facilitate benchmarking and best practice research. Strong project management skills. Demonstrate a sound level of commercial acumen to create a business aligned talent strategy Educated to degree level or equivalent Preferably CIPD qualified
