Description: Description About the Position: To lead the Electricity Project Controls teams in New York and New England, that are accountable for providing schedule analysis, integrated cost and schedule analysis (earned value) and change control support to the Project Management organization in Complex Capital Delivery (CCD). The team will support program, cost and forecasting assurance on behalf of the business.
Position Responsibilities (including but not limited to): Ensure all CCD electricity project schedules are effectively managed and reflect the scope left to be completed. Ensure project controls support is provided to the electricity PMs in order to challenge contractors change orders. Provide support and guidance to the PMs on earned value data and identify trends, issues and opportunities through reviewing integrated costs and schedule. Ensure the interactions between different projects in a portfolio are understood. Make sure robust analysis (Critical Path, Total Float etc.) of individual projects and the portfolio has taken place where necessary. Support the VP & Directors of Electricity Project management in the Change Control process for baseline changes and contingency management. Resolve any data quality issues that arise with either schedules or actual cost allocation. Act as a point of escalation. Provide the necessary leadership to their direct reports and teams using project controls experience and judgement. Work collaboratively with the wider business to achieve the overall business goals of achieving efficiencies in the delivery of Complex Capex, including representing Complex Capital Delivery at the Electricity Portfolio Calibration Meetings. Build a feedstock of future Project Controls leadership talent that can fill positions from Manager to VP.
Qualifications Knowledge & Experience Required: 10 years’ experience in either project management, construction or schedule/cost management. Equivalent relevant experience will also be considered. A Bachelor’s degree or significant relevant project management, engineering and construction experience. Expert knowledge in earned value, schedule development, baselining, contingency management and cost analysis. Demonstrate a high level of personal initiative, integrity and ability to interact with company personnel, contractors and regulatory representative. Valid driver’s license with a safe driving history required. Experience in understanding project management metrics and driving pre-emptive actions to ensure projects are delivered to time and cost. Understanding of how individual projects interact with each other as a result of the National Grid outage plan (Desirable) Good knowledge of the environment in which Complex Capital Delivery operates. Examples of this include health & safety legislation, key pieces of planning legislation including the article 7 process. Must have Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint skills it is also desirable to have knowledge of P6, P6 Analytics, Microsoft Project and Business Intelligence tools such as Tableau or Oracle Business Intelligence. Must be able to work under tight deadlines Experienced in influencing, persuading, communicating, challenging and negotiating. Can demonstrate experience in recruiting, continually training and leading a group of Project Controls professionals. Job Dimensions: Employees: Manager (2 direct reports, 20 Indirect reports) Financial: Supports the delivery of the Complex Capital Delivery portfolio, worth circa $1.2 billion per annum Main interfaces – External. Specialist Services, Senior Stakeholders/Contractors. Regulators where required. Main interfaces – Internal. Asset Management, Engineering, PMCC, Contracts and Commercial, Estimating, Procurement, Legal.
