Description: Description About the Position:
This position is responsible for providing data quality management, data governance and quality metrics reporting expertise to the business in order to establish and maintain compliance with Data Management Principles. The specialist will collaborate with the Data Management Center of Excellence, Information Systems, the business functions, and potentially Performance Excellence groups to ensure data management principles are adhered to and drive for the overall enhancement and maturity of data management operations at National Grid.
Position Responsibilities (including, but not limited to): Develop and maintain the repository of organizational information on data roles and responsibilities. Perform periodic reviews to ensure and sustain quality and accuracy of this information. Monitor data health issues via production of data quality metrics. Assist the business in the monitoring and the measuring of data quality and the implementation of action plans to address data health issues. Participates and advises on business specific resolution processes. Establish and maintain a data inventory. Participate in the documented change management process and perform periodic reviews to ensure and sustain quality of the data inventory. Oversee support for the data inventory application itself. Establish and maintain a data management RACI covering the end to end data lifecycle and associated stakeholders. Implement a periodic review process to ensure and sustain quality of the RACI. Develop awareness of data roles and responsibilities through regular communications and induction processes. Participate in the development of material and delivery of training and/or communication methods. Define template / standards for collection of data categorization. Support efforts to categorize data for security, confidentiality and business criticality purposes. Provide a repository for this information and perform periodic reviews to ensure and sustain quality of the data categorization. Define and maintain metrics to measure authorized data access. Establish the collection process of authorized user metrics and report on compliance via validation rules. Establish and maintain a catalog of available data sources, data definitions and key relationships, data quality criteria, record of the authoritative source, how it is provided and documented data lineage. Define the template / structure for the organization standard. Assist the business in traceability to the data source. Provide a repository for this information and perform periodic reviews to ensure and sustain quality of this information. Establish and maintain processes to report, record, identify root causes and correct inaccurate or inappropriate data. Establish and maintain processes to report to the publishing owner any instances of inaccurate, incomplete or invalid published data with the appropriate actions taken. Documented process for publishing issue reporting. Support communication and alignment with the data community (i.e., Business Data Owners, Data Stewards, and Data Maintainers) regarding policy, standards and process compliance, and local and/or domain-specific exceptions Ensure compliance with Data Management principles and implications, assist the D ata Governance Manager with internal and external audits, provide research and analytical support, and through periodic monitoring. Resolve inquiries and issues across data domains, business units, and functions, soliciting advice and assistance from support functions (IS, Security, etc.), and escalating, as necessary Assess root cause(s) for change requests, and participate in formal and informal project teams and activities addressing improvement opportunities
Qualifications Knowledge & Experience Required: Bachelor’s Degree required in Business, Engineering, Information Systems or related area and 7+ years related work experience. Demonstrable experience with data management practices including data profiling, data cleansing, data validation rules, data quality metrics and reporting. Solid understanding of leading data governance practices, processes, and tools Experience with the SAP ERP, PowerPlan, Maximo, Storms platforms a plus Proficiency with data quality and data remediation methods and tools Excellent analysis, problem solving and requirements definition skills and track record delivering results to business and technology stakeholders Ability to work with and realize successful delivery through teams This position is one of National Grid’s career path roles which provide for promotional opportunities within and across salary bands as you develop and evolve in the position by gaining experience, expertis
