Cyber Assurance Technologist (Experienced)

We are in need of a cyber assurance technologist to perform cyber security activities at the California site\. The individual will be responsible for serving as the liaison between Cyber Security \(CS\) and mission delivering organizations\. Assists organizations in clarifying CS policies and procedures\. Interfaces with center leaders to maintain the elements of the annual Cyber Security Accreditation Agreement \(CSAA\) for the center\. Maintains classified one page plans, contact users who are out of compliance with the CSAA, prepare and assist in cyber security assessments, attend cyber related meetings, threat briefings and cyber security training\. Assists organizations in finding technical solutions for cyber security issues\.

Primary Responsibilities and Abilities:

+ Performs varied administrative and cyber related duties with a relatively broad scope to support Sandias cyber programs, projects, and activities \(e\.g\. completing one page plans, collaborating with classified computing technicians to reduce vulnerabilities, responding to customer questions regarding current cyber policies, etc\.\)\.

+ Applies knowledge of how activities within the organization integrate with each other and with activities performed outside the organization\.

+ Develops, installs, tests, administers and documents distributed, computing systems\. Plans, implements and coordinates system upgrades, enhancements, or maintenance\.

+ Contributes to other departmental functions on an as needed basis


+ Requires high school diploma plus three or more years of directly related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience\.

+ Experience as a desktop support technician and/or system administrator for Windows environments \(e\.g\. system setup, account management, backup/restore, network printers, application installation and peripheral installations, etc\.\)\.

+ Applicant must have DOE Q clearance or active DOD TS clearance to perform the work required on classified systems\.


+ Bachelors or Masters degree in information security or computer science

+ 2\+ years of computer support at Sandia National Laboratories

+ Experience supporting cyber programs and/or initiatives\.

+ Cyber related certifications \(e\.g\. CompTIA Cloud \+, Security \+\)

+ Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills and the ability to effectively collaborate with other IT professionals outside of the work center\.

+ Familiarity with network protocols and network management technologies\.

+ Skill utilizing software diagnostic tools and the ability to conduct appropriate troubleshooting processes and conduct appropriate upgrades\.

+ Ability to maintain accurate records\.

+ Ability to effectively communicate with customers, vendors, and database administrators\.

+ Knowledge of operating systems, including UNIX, Linux, Windows, and MacOS\.

+ Ability to research, assemble, and evaluate information or data regarding industry practices or applicable regulatory changes and recommend sound, practical solutions to complex issues\.

+ Ability to define systems requirements based on user/client needs, cost, and required integration with existing applications, systems, or platforms\.

+ Ability to define technical standards and functionality tests, and to develop specifications, prototypes, or initial user guides\.

+ Experience with SCN computers running in a MSVDI \(Microsoft Virtual Desktop Infrastructure\)

+ Experience with SNL escorting requirements and ability to manage work while escorting\.

+ SNL site IT infrastructure experience to include SRN/SCN/SPN networking environments\.

+ Experience managing Windows collaborative share permissions\.

The Information Systems & Services Department provides enterprise level computing and cyber capabilities for Sandia/California\. Services provided by the department include cyber security assurance, unclassified and classified desktop including Windows, Mac, Unix, and Linux; mobile computing; laptops of foreign travel; password administration; and IT support tailored to mission line organization specific needs\.

Security Clearance:

Position requires a Department of Energy \(DOE\) granted Q\-level security clearance to start\.

Position requires an active Department of Energy \(DOE\) granted Q\-level security clearance or active clearance with another US government agency, e\.g\., DOD, to be considered for this position\.

Sandia is required by DOE directive to conduct a pre\-employment drug testing, and a pre\-employment background review that includes personal reference checks, law enforcement record and credit checks, and employment and education verifications\. Applicants for employment must be able to obtain and maintain a DOE Q\-level security clearance, which requires U\.S\. citizenship\.
