Job Title:Computing Infrastructure Engineer (Experienced)

We are seeking a highly motivated IT Computing Infrastructure Engineering professional to join one of the teams within the Information Systems & Services department reporting to the department manager. The team delivers user computing infrastructure support and services for the Livermore, California site. The mission of the team is to enhance the performance, user experience, reliability and security to protect computing infrastructure assets.

The select candidate can expect to perform a diverse set of technical and operations management tasks:

? Manage and administer data center infrastructures, including physical, virtual and disaster recovery servers and storage system environments.

? Assess current state of systems and provide inputs for future improvements in alignment with organization strategy.

? Work closely with other teams within Computing Support Services, as well as with other IT organizations such as Enterprise IT, Cyber Security and networking to ensure a robust, secure, and reliable IT environment.

? Act as an advisory for the team and assist in coordinating infrastructure changes.

? Serve as technical SME and contributor in lab-wide IT initiatives representing the California site e.g. Enterprise Cloud Management System.

? Drive excellence in overall technical performance of information systems.

Required:



? Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, information systems, business or relevant discipline plus five or more years of experience; or master's degree in relevant discipline plus two or more years of relevant experience

? Minimum of 3 years of experience in system administration, any combination of Microsoft Windows and Linux.

? Minimum of 2 years of public cloud operations experience in either AWS or Azure.

? Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q security clearance.

Desired:

? Experience with administration and management of servers and storage systems that provide enterprise wide services, preferably in Microsoft, VMware and Linux environments

? Experience with virtualization technologies, both VMware vSphere and Microsoft Hyper-V platforms

? Experience with system monitoring and management tools such as Splunk, Veeam One, and vROps

? Experience with scripting and programing languages such as PowerShell, Python, Ruby, etc. strongly desired

? Experience in infrastructure automation tools such as Chef, Puppet, Ansible, and Docker

? Knowledge of uses cases and applications of Cloud architectures (SaaS, IaaS, PaaS)

? Knowledge of network architecture and services- TCP/IP, FC, and SDN

? Knowledge of SQL Server databases and administration is a plus

? ITIL v3 Foundation certified and/or experience preferred e.g. Incident Management, Change Management, Service Level Management

? Remedy BMC software experience

? Experience working in a physical data center facility

? Experience in effectively prioritizing and executing tasks in a constantly changing environment

? Experience working in a continuous improvement working environment

? Understanding of Agile, Lean, and DevOps methodology

? Strong analytical and organizational skills

? Effective verbal and written communication skills



The Information Systems & Services Department (8945) provides enterprise level computing capabilities for Sandia/California, including platform, desktop, mobile, and storage services. Security Clearance:


Position requires a Department of Energy (DOE) granted Q-level security clearance.
