The Chief Engineer - Advanced Commercial Engines Programs (ACEP) plays a critical leadership role in Advanced Programs and Technology (AP&T) at Pratt & Whitney. The Chief Engineer is the primary point contact for commercial notional studies, tasks, programs and technology maturation through rigs and engine demonstrations. Notional studies include the evaluation of near-term product improvements for existing engine platforms and extend to futuristic commercial propulsion concepts under exploration. The Chief Engineer will direct internal- and customer-funded tasks targeted at evaluating and maturing new technologies and propulsion concepts from detailed study and conceptual design all the way to full-engine demonstrator programs to flight test. The Chief Engineer will work closely with other commercial programs within P&W and lead the System Integrated Product Team (SIPT) for ACEP. Customer coordination is another key responsibility of the role. The Chief Engineer serves as a primary engineering focal point and company representative to airframe (Boeing, Airbus, Embraer, Bombardier, and Aurora) and government customers including the National Aerospace and Space Administration (NASA) and Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).

The Chief Engineer - ACEP position is a significant and challenging leadership role in Engineering. The role will provide regular visibility to internal senior leadership as well as external government and airframe customers. The Chief Engineer is also uniquely positioned to influence and drive the business strategies that P&W will use to grow its leadership position in commercial aerospace and position the company to be the supplier of choice for future applications.
Qualifications Candidates require a minimum of ten (10) years of industry experience with a demonstrated record in one or more of the following areas: [1] gas turbine component and module engineering encompassing hardware design, analysis, coordination and testing, [2] systems engineering that envelopes advanced flight vehicle or propulsion systems analysis and integration. Preferred candidates would include those that have served or currently serve in a leadership capacity in a Component Integrated Product Team (CIPT) or a systems engineering group including Systems Analysis & Aerodynamics (SA&A) or Systems Design and Component Integration (SDCI). Candidates need to have exceptional communication skills, team leadership and project management skills.

U.S. citizens are desired given dual use integration opportunities with military programs.
Education A B.S. Degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering is the minimum requirement. Candidates with an advanced degree in Engineering and/or research specialization are encouraged to .
