We are seeking a Research Reactor Facility (RRF) Development Manager to advance strategic opportunities related to the Technical Area Five (TA-V) Nuclear Facilities Long-Range Sustainment Plan (LRSP). In this role, you will leverage a deep understanding of nuclear weapons systems requirements to develop and execute strategic plans for a new RRF. This job involves working within DOE Order 413.3, Project Management for Capital Asset Projects process, applying a thorough understanding of nuclear weapons and research community technical needs including technical program requirements.

On any given day, you may be called on to:

+ Develop, implement, and manage strategic planning activities to ensure the success of the RRF, including translating strategies into specific objectives and action plans, aligning processes and systems to support strategic priorities, and obtaining and allocating resources to meet objectives and deliverables
+ Identify research organizations throughout the nation that would benefit from access to a research reactor to advance radiation sciences capabilities
+ Develop contact plans and pursuit strategies, and engage organizations and programs required to provide the solutions necessary to ensure the success of the RRF for mission needs
+ Communicate and market the RRF?s capabilities to potential beneficiaries, collaborators, and customers
+ Apply knowledge of capture plan development concepts and execution techniques including technical program requirements, major program development, positioning, and teaming
+ Provide technical and scientific guidance to sponsors, program development personnel, and management responding to program related questions, issues, and problems
+ Promote excellence by managing and coordinating specific deliverables, overall program and project plans, budgets, structures, schedules, and staffing requirements
+ Develop competitive models for weapons qualification and research including business case analysis
+ Develop trust-based relationships to ensure that customer needs are satisfied


+ Bachelor?s degree in a relevant STEM discipline
+ Eight years? relevant experience
+ Experience with radiation effects science and nuclear weapons systems qualification
+ Current, active DoE Q clearance


+ Two years? leadership experience
+ Experience with capture plan development and execution, positioning, and teaming
+ PhD in a relevant STEM discipline
+ Experience with program development, project management, and/or strategic planning

The Research Reactor Facility Department (1388) fulfills a critical role in support of the Technical Area Five (TA-V) Nuclear Facilities Long-Range Sustainment Plan (LRSP) with a focus on advancing capabilities within the radiation sciences. The department?s capabilities are maximized through collaboration with industry, academic, and government partners as well as other organizations across Sandia.

Security Clearance:

Position requires a Department of Energy (DOE) granted Q-level security clearance to start.

Position requires an active Department of Energy (DOE) granted Q-level security clearance or active clearance with another US government agency, e.g., DOD, to be considered for this position.
