Capital Equipment Project Engineer

Pratt & Whitney is seeking a highly dedicated, Electrical/Manufacturing Engineer to join our Capital Equipment Program Office to manage the technical specification and procurement of capital equipment. This key role will be responsible for leading the organization's capital equipment and advanced engineering initiatives focused on the design, integration, installation, and optimization of new and existing manufacturing equipment and processes.



  1. Responsible for managing capital projects within the constraints of standard work, scope, quality, time, and cost to deliver specified requirements and meet the business strategic objective.
  2. Develop and evaluates technical specification for high power electrical systems, products, components, and applications by ing knowledge of electrical power generation and materials
  3. Confirms system and components' capabilities by evaluating supplies’ design, manufacturing and assembly methods for high power generating equipment
  4. Manage and support the RFQ process including development and selection of all capital equipment suppliers, system integrators, and sub-contractors.
  5. Responsible for developing and managing suppliers to ensure capital equipment designs and supplier process are capable to deliver defect-free performance at first production, on-time, at costs that meet or exceed program targets.
  6. Conduct regular update meetings and facilitate communication with all parties for each capital project to assure full coordination, to review progress against budget and schedule, and to address issues/risks encountered with solutions to mitigate.
  7. Manage team of cross-functional engineer’s to-successfully-deliver projects to meet customer expectations/business objectives. This includes manufacturing engineers, mechanical engineers, controls engineers, maintenance & service engineers, and other resources.
  8. Set budget baselines and manage budget changes, timelines, and scope of different capital projects within a World-Class project management context.
  9. This role will require excess of 30% Travel to P&W facilities and equipment suppliers.
Education Requirements:
  1. BS/MS Electrical or Mechanical / Technical Engineering Degree
  2. MBA or advanced Engineering Degree a plus
  3. Five (5) or more years of project controls or Project Management experience
  4. Ten (10) or more years of Manufacturing Engineering / Process Engineering Management experience
  5. Experience managing multiple multi-million capital equipment projects from concept, specification development, quotation, purchase, build, installation, acceptance and full operation
  6. Experience contributing to and managing multidisciplinary/disperse teams.
  7. Experience evaluating and negotiating with capital equipment / engineering contractors / firms
  8. Financial skills applied to investment / ROI cases
