We are seeking a Buyer/Supplier Quality Engineer. This position is responsible for the overall supply base quality for the Athens facility, with a focus on supplier development. The SQE partners with Supply Chain, Engineering and Manufacturing functions to continuously improve the performance of suppliers of system components by working with the supply base to ensure it has an effective quality management system and reliable process controls in place to provide Carrier Athens with consistently conforming product, on time, at the agreed upon costs.

Responsibilities Include:
Quote, analyze and award part contracts to the best overall qualified suppliers. PO processing, supplier contact (phone, fax, email)
. Drive cost reductions through negotiations, resourcing, design changes and supplier development. Work with suppliers via e-mail, phone or on-site in order to assure quality conformance for all purchased components. Analyze and approve PPAP’s. Qualify re-sourced or re-designed components resulting in material productivity. Address factory issues and provide long term corrective action in order to avoid production line down-time and assure continuity of supply.


Experience working within an MRP system (JDE-Oracle preferred). Experience in a fast paced manufacturing environment. Experience in supplier qualification (on-site system and quality audits) and part qualification (PPAP, FMEA, Process Control Plans, Gage and Process capability studies). A proven track record in supplier development and improving supplier metrics. A result oriented self-starter

Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Manufacturing discipline with 4+ years of experience or Master's degree in Engineering or Manufacturing discipline with 2+ years of experience.
