We are seeking a Technical Business Development Professional to support Sandia's Academic Partnerships office in the development of strategic direction for future business, programs and science and technology investments\. In this role, you will work closely with Campus Executives, on\-campus partnership managers, and a large number of stakeholders across the Lab\. This role provides opportunities to: develop and assist in the execution of long\-range objectives and strategies by identifying internal and external strategic issues that could affect research, mission and partnerships growth and performance; scan the environment to identify and utilize comparative/competitive intelligence and monitor national and international issues related to Sandia National Laboratories' mission to develop strategies for future research, mission and investment directions; and create internal and external briefs/concise presentations on strategy and insight needs/trends and create qualitative insight reports that identify key findings and segment audiences by opportunity\.

On any given day, you may be called on to:

+ Facilitate communications, events, and initiatives between the on\-campus managers, executive management, stakeholders, and university partners

+ Provide reports/presentations for on\-campus managers, executive management, stakeholders, and external entities

+ Develop success metrics for the program and provide reporting on results

+ Develop common tools for the team, in collaboration with on\-campus managers and other stakeholders

+ Provide project planning, management, and tracking of deliverables for the team

+ Facilitate team integration with HR recruiting and staffing

+ Formulate technical business development plans, goals, and objectives for technology programs and implement these as part of a team

+ Foster internal/external partner relationships and engage with potential stakeholders

+ Develop, implement and drive strategic initiatives in collaboration with on\-campus managers and stakeholders

+ Establish, direct, and coordinate communications plans, sponsor and partner engagement and capture plans, and marketing plans

+ Identify and evaluate mission opportunities for further Sandia engagement, develop technical value propositions, and develop and support execution of engagement and capture plans

+ Draft, negotiate, execute, and monitor partnership agreements and ensure that agreements meet business objectives as well as policy and regulatory requirements

+ Support Sandia technical organizations to select partners for maturing/commercializing technology applications for national security needs


+ Bachelor's in relevant discipline plus 5 years relevant experience in a high tech, government, or academic setting; or Bachelors and Masters in relevant discipline plus 2 years relevant experience in a high tech, government, or academic setting

+ Experience in one or more of the following areas:

- Program/project planning and coordination

- Business planning and development

- Marketing and sales tools/processes

- Customer relationship management techniques

- Success metrics development and reporting

+ Ability to obtain and maintain a DoE Q clearance


+ Excellent verbal and written communication skills

+ Demonstrated ability to work in a cross\-discipline team environment

+ Experience communicating and coordinating with a spatially dispersed team

+ Ability to interact effectively with all levels of personnel and management

+ Understanding of intellectual property licensing and administration

+ Business development experience in Science and Technology related fields

Sandia National Laboratories has created a strategic partnership program of Academic Alliances with a select set of top universities across the country, including: University of Illinois, Urbana\-Champaign; University of Texas at Austin; Georgia Tech; University of New Mexico; and Purdue University\. Consistent with the objectives of the Academic Alliance Program, Sandia has committed to deepen its institutional relationship with these universities and agreed to three high\-level partnership goals: solving the nations significant technical problems, sustaining and engaging human capital, and accelerating the adoption of new technologies\. This program is part of the CRO Research and Academic Programs group \(1170\) and supports Sandias relationship with these schools to spearhead partnership development, technology transfer, and enhance recruiting efforts\. In addition, 1170 is responsible for stewarding Sandias partnerships with New Mexico universities \- New Mexico State University and New Mexico Tech through Sandias Campus Executive program to build mutually beneficial joint research and educational programs that strengthen Sandias science and technology capabilities and enhance the overall NM research ecosystem\.

Security Clearance:

Position requires a Department of Energy \(DOE\) granted Q\-level security clearance\.

Sandia is required by DOE directive to conduct a pre\-employment drug testing, and a pre\-employment background review that includes personal reference checks, law enforcement record and credit checks, and employment and education verifications\. Applicants for employment must be able to obtain and maintain a DOE Q\-level security clearance, which requires U\.S\. citizenship\.
