Position Overview

Responsible for providing human resources leadership for Pratt & Whitney’s West Palm Beach (WPB) site.

The West Palm Beach facility’s impressive portfolio of capabilities include F135 production engine assembly and test; Auxiliary Power Unit (APU) assembly, test, and maintenance & repair operations (MRO); Development – Systems Engineering Validation (SEV) engine assembly and test; special coatings technologies for the Hot Section Module Center; and most recently added GTF MRO work.

The incumbent will be responsible for the quality, delivery and cost of Human Resources services to the WPB site (over 400 hourly bargained employees and 850 salaried employees on 3 shifts).

Partnering with senior leadership in multiple segments of Pratt & Whitney’s business (including Engineering, Operations, Military Engines and Commercial Engines) and leveraging cross organizational synergies, the incumbent will provide leadership regarding employee engagement, talent acquisition, community involvement and other strategic initiatives to drive business results across the WPB site. This position will also partner with the HR Client Managers responsible for supporting these Pratt businesses.


Duties & Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic leadership, administrative direction and control to various labor and employee relations, employment, compensation, benefits, management development, training, affirmative action and special purpose programs in support of division operations and business activities.

  • Formulate and implement plans, programs, procedures and standards as required relating to labor, salary/hourly organization, employee relations, placement, recruiting, compensation, training, employee information, management personnel planning and development.

  • Foster and maintain constructive relations with employee union representatives; administer collective bargaining agreement, including grievance process; lead negotiations for successor collective bargaining agreement in partnership with employee and relations functional leadership.

  • Continually review and maintain an awareness of competitive and business trends and practices, and assure a current working knowledge of employee attitudes, operating problems and organization requirements.

  • Keep senior management apprised of relevant and meaningful information concerning personnel practices.

  • Functionally responsible to the Vice President, Human Resources on matters which represent major deviation from policy, practice or approved plans, as well as those items which typically require certain attention or participation, either by policy, practice or judgment.

  • Develop and implement solutions to enable an inclusive work environment and support implementation of programs that raise awareness and improve cultural competence.
