The Space Systems Architect and Chief Engineer will:

Provide site wide support for developing and advancing systems architectures and engage with business development in shaping new business opportunities. Interact with all levels of the organization, NASA and the DoD community. Be capable of quickly assimilating diverse technologies and architecting strategies for advancement in areas such as Extravehicular Mobility Unit (EMU) Systems, Life Support Systems (LSS), EVA (Extravehicular Activity) Human Health and Performance, Biomechanics, Suit Sizing and Fit, Waste Management, and EVA Space Operations. Serve as a resource for introducing space technologies into adjacent markets. Serve as an expert resource for resolving system level failures and developing and implementing root cause and corrective action plans.

Key responsibilities of the Space Systems Architect and Chief Engineer include the following:

  • Innovating, advancing and expanding core capabilities; architecting systems level roadmaps to support business strategy; developing plans and schedules that ensure the timely delivery of technical solutions.
  • Engaging the stakeholder community and cultivate relationships that advance technical capability and support business growth.
  • Authoring White Papers and supporting cost, schedule estimation and proposal development.
  • Supporting existing program execution as needed.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of 10 years of technical and business leadership experience in the aerospace and defense industries: Strong Space and maneuverable in DoD R&D, PMO space.
  • Certified Systems Engineering Architect preferred with proficiency in program management, EVMS and business development with strict adherence to ethics and handling of sensitive information.
  • Strong leadership skills in driving standard work (work instructions & procedures), process improvement, and the application of continuous improvement tools & methods.
  • Extensive experience in the design and certification of space flight hardware.
  • Strong organizational skills; able to lead, manage, and bring clarity and structure to dynamic and ambiguous problems; outstanding people, teamwork, and collaboration skills; excellent written and verbal communications skills.
This job is considered a sensitive position in accordance with NASA Guidelines. The selected candidate will be subject to drug and alcohol testing per NASA's regulation subpart 1823.5 Drug-Free Workforce.

Candidate must be a US citizen and able to obtain and maintain a DoD clearance if required.
Education Bachelor's Degree in Engineering discipline required w/10+ years experience
MS in Engineering discipline preferred, and MBA or equivalent with electromechanical hardware development experience is also preferred
