Description: Description About the Position:
Assist with a range of property tax activities to ensure compliance with property tax statutes, regulations, and practices, and to minimize National Grid’s property tax expense and administrative costs related to property tax.

Position Responsibilities (including but not limited to):
Prepare monthly journal entries, accruals and account reconciliations for 19 corporate entities

Identify potential over-assessments and work with assessors to correct assessment errors

Address issues identified by the bill processors to ensure timely payment and proper accounting

Assist with financial analysis of all property tax accounts to support property tax department rate case readiness, accurate and timely response to IR’s.
Assist with the financial modeling of new business development and Payment in Lieu of Tax Agreements (Pilots) for large scale projects. Proper modeling of new opportunities allows us to better forecast property tax costs and accurate pricing for new business models. Pilot’s will save the Company significant property taxes on new commercial ventures.

Assist with Annual Obsolescence Filings with NY State Office of Real Property Tax Services. This represents one of our largest opportunities for NY property tax mitigation.

Assist with Audit support, FERC and State Filings, monthly forecasting, budgeting and variance and flux analysis.

Property tax litigation support.

Develop and maintain effective relationships with key stakeholders, including jurisdiction finance, accounting, income tax and regulatory affairs, in order to share best practice in property tax, provide technical advice and build bases of influence.

Keep up to date with market/regulatory developments within property tax in order to ensure the optimization of best practice for National Grid.

Challenge existing ways of working and continuously seek ways to do things better in order to drive greater efficiencies.

Qualifications Knowledge & Experience Required : A Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Economics, or Business related discipline and 5-7 years of property tax experience. Experience managing multiple projects independently. Strong verbal and written communications skills, and n egotiation and conflict resolution excellence. Proficient in relevant software e.g. Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word, PowerPoint). Knowledge of budgeting and operational planning.
