Description: Description About the Position: Be a part of a team that is responsible for delivering nationally recognized energy efficiency services efforts. National Grid's Strategic Business team is looking for a Senior or Lead Analyst to manage commercial and industrial evaluations, planning and stakeholder efforts. The Policy and Evaluation team is responsible for managing energy efficiency evaluations, monitoring and verifying customer energy savings, tracking and reporting energy savings, working with internal teams on program developments and enhancements and collaborating with external stakeholders including regulators. The Policy and Evaluation team is part of the Strategic Business team that strategizes customer and program enhancements and engages with stakeholders and regulators. The team also works closely with National Grid sales and engineering teams, as well as vendors, to deliver energy efficiency services to businesses and multifamily customers. The position focuses on energy efficiency in Rhode Island. Travel between National Grid offices in Massachusetts and Rhode Island is required.
Position Responsibilities (including but not limited to): Manage a portfolio of commercial and industrial impact and market evaluation studies including procurement of external consulting resources, oversight of study methodologies and execution, management of time and budgets, and review and application of study results. Review evaluations that include measurement and detailed calculation including process and building energy modelling, statistical analysis and sample design methods or survey design. Collaborate with an external stakeholder group on measurement and verification activities. Plan future energy efficiency programs by collaborating with program managers, sales, marketing teams, and external stakeholders; determine cost effectiveness of energy measures and programs; research new measures and technologies; incorporate customer or study feedback in program design. Manage energy savings tracking and reporting, including analyzing program or customer data, reviewing complex customer applications, and working with information services teams to maintain and enhance data tracking systems. Lead the development of a technical reference manual for energy efficiency measure savings calculations and baseline document. Advise on emerging commercial and industrial energy efficiency technologies and applications. Participate in regulatory efforts related to energy efficiency approval including stakeholder meetings, technical sessions, regulatory hearings, preparing reports or information requests, preparing regulatory filings and plans. Participate on process excellence teams and continuously improve processes for customers and colleagues.
Qualifications Knowledge & Experience Required: 3+ years of professional experience in the related fields of energy efficiency planning or energy evaluation, engineering related to the energy industry,. Preferably efficiency sustainable energy or government energy or environmental management is desired. Bachelor’s degree and/or Master’s Degree in a field that requires quantitative analysis and/or data-based problem solving: preferred fields are mechanical, chemical or electrical engineering, resource related economics, energy or environmental studies or science, statistics or social science with some energy related experience. Familiarity with the technical aspects of energy efficiency is required; expertise in commercial building energy technologies such as lighting, HVAC, energy codes, combined heat and power, and multifamily retrofit are desired. Knowledge of energy efficiency program planning, design, implementation and evaluation, and/or local and national energy policy. Qualifications preferred include: Certified Energy Manager (CEM) Professional Engineer (PE) or Building Energy Assessment Professional (BEAP) by ASHRAE. Advanced skills in software such as Microsoft Office products and database management software is required and experience database management software or building energy simulation software such as eQuest are desired. Must have a valid driver’s license with safe driving history.
