Description: Description About the Position: Support the Director/Managers of the Electric Project Estimating (EPE) Department with financial analysis, data analysis, procedures and processes. Maintain & monitor estimating databases, spreadsheets, reports, metrics and other analysis in support of estimating. Develop metrics, measurements, and methodologies to ensure quality of the Electric Project Estimating team products. Position Responsibilities (including but not limited to): Independently collate and analyze estimate and/or financial actual data within one or multiple areas using pre-determined tools, methods and formats in order to support the department’s decision making process. This position is geared toward being the financial specialist within EPE in addition to other functions. This includes working with finance partners to set and evaluate indirect, direct rates and costing methodologies to be used in our estimating software. Monitor year on year accuracy of estimated costs and challenge business processes in order to ensure National Grid is at the forefront of estimating quality and delivers projects on budget. Document findings and develop improvement plans based on analysis. Challenge existing ways of working and continuously seek ways to do things better in order to drive greater efficiencies within assigned area. Respond to internal and external customer/stakeholder requests regarding analysis and development of data. Maintain and provide information to ensure stakeholders are kept up to date with relevant National Grid electric estimating policies, processes and programs. Monitor and review estimating information, updating where necessary in order to identify any anomalies or discrepancies and ensure management has access to up to date and accurate information. Perform research on data discrepancies between estimate and actual results while working with estimators, other departments and stakeholders. Develop relationships with internal and external stakeholders in order to obtain and share information that will benefit National Grid. Prepare and publish various reports to support department KPI’s, stakeholder communication and other reporting as assigned Work independently to manage schedule and workload.

Qualifications Knowledge and Experience Required: Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or closely related field (ex: Project Management, Engineering). OR in lieu of a degree candidates with relevant work experience and training may be considered. Preferred – Electric Utility Finance experience including clear understanding of FERC accounting rules. Proficient in use of company financial software including PowerPlan, HANA, SAP, BI and Business Objects. Experience and proficiency in relevant company related IT systems Strong problem solving and analytical skills. Advanced level Excel user. Takes personal responsibility for correcting problems promptly and non-defensively and communicates customer expectations to monitor delivery and satisfaction. Able to use direct persuasion to influence others, using basic data, logic or a solid business case when responding to requests from customers and stakeholders. Monitors quality of others work, checks to ensure procedures are followed when data is submitted in metrics or reports. Proven interpersonal and written communication skills. Must have a valid driver's license with safe driving history.
