Job Title:Administrative Badging Specialist


Badging Specialists perform administrative security functions to support site access control activities at Sandia National Laboratories (SNL) in Livermore, CA. This includes greeting visitors and members of the workforce, issuing badges and answering general security and site questions. Badging Specialists ensure that visitors needing access to Sandia National Laboratories controlled premises meet all requirements prior to being badged for access. Additionally, this position will be expected to research records, databases, Department of Energy (DOE) policies, and SNL policies to determine appropriate action, reconcile discrepancies and/or recommend solutions.


Requires high school diploma plus three or more years of directly related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Knowledge of and experience with general administrative services and activities. Excellent written and oral communication skills, knowledge of and experience with common office software, excellent customer service skills, the ability to effectively work in a team environment, the ability follow through to completion on multiple tasks, often with frequent interruptions, strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. A demonstrated ability to work with and maintain confidentiality with private and sensitive information according to internal policies and external regulatory requirements.


Possession of a bachelor's degree. Knowledge of governmental regulations related to administrative practices and assigned business function. Knowledge of DOE security directives.

Integrated Security Operations reports into Sandia California Security Operations (SECOPS) whose primary mission is to protect people and assets to ensure mission success. Altogether SECOPS has responsibility for Physical Security, Classification, Classified Matter Protection and Control (CMPC), Operations Security (OPSEC) Security Awareness, the Security Incident Management Program (SIMP), Personnel Security, Badging, Site Visitor Control, the Embedded Security Professionals Program and Emergency Management. SECOPS also oversees and manages a 24/7 armed Protective Force.

Security Clearance:

Position requires a Department of Energy (DOE) granted Q-level security clearance.

Sandia is required by DOE directive to conduct a pre-employment drug testing, and a pre-employment background review that includes personal reference checks, law enforcement record and credit checks, and employment and education verifications.
